ALUMNI

Greetings Alumni,

I hope this letter finds you well. The 2009-2010 school year promises to be a tremendous time for the BBSA. We are very excited about the activities and programs that will take place in the coming months and look forward to working with you to create the richest professional, personal, and academic experience ever for the African American community at the Ross School of Business. We are hopeful that this year will be a time in which the BBSA and the Black Business Alumni Association (BBAA) can forge a stronger and deeper partnership. There are already several opportunities available for alums to get involved and your time and talents are vital to the success of our programs this year.

We will be adding a career education component to our BBSA monthly meetings and will be reaching out to alumni on a monthly basis to speak with our general body about recruiting for and working in various careers/industries. Our Business in Africa panel will be looking for alums, with significant work experience in African countries, to share their insights and experiences with Ross students. We will also be calling on alums from various industries to conduct mock interviews with current students to help them prepare for conference and on-campus recruiting. Last but certainly not least, we will be reaching out to alums to sit on career panels for the 34th annual Alfred L. Edwards BBSA conference in December. (For details about these events and more refer to the Events section of this website)

In addition to encouraging your service we also ask that you stay connected to the BBSA through our Facebook and LinkedIn sites. As time passes phone numbers, email addresses, and residence locations change making it increasingly difficult to stay in touch. By joining our Facebook and LinkedIn networks you can remained informed about BBSA activities and events despite changes in your contact information.

Finally, we would like to invite you to our alumni reception at this year’s National Black MBA conference. The conference will take place September 22nd – 26th in New Orleans Louisiana. If you are planning to attend please make plans to come to the Michigan alumni reception as well. The reception is an excellent opportunity to reconnect and network with other Michigan alumni, and to meet current students from Ross. Details for the alumni reception are outlined below.
