We warmly welcome our distinguished alumni back for the Alfred L. Edwards 32nd Annual BBSA Conference. We had many alums and their significant others come back for our 30th Annual Conference, during which we honored Dr. Alfred L. Edwards by renaming the conference in his honor. We had even more in attendance at the 31st annual conference where we celebrated his legacy and contributions to students past and present. We look forward to seeing even more of you at the conference this year.
As in years past, we are working closely with the Black Business Alumni Association to create a conference that provides a time for you to reconnect with the school and old friends, as well as an opportunity for you to enjoy professional panels and keynote speakers that you will find valuable whether you are a recent or distant Michigan graduate.
If you have suggestions on programming that you would like to see during the conference, please let us know by emailing us at bbsaconference@umich.edu.
Alumni Town Hall Meeting
As we do every year, during the 32nd annual conference we will offer an afternoon session exclusively for alumni. Ross administration will come in for a presentation on the status of the school and the school’s planned approach to diversity recruiting in response to the passing of Proposal 2. BBAA leadership will also inform alumni of the club’s plans for the upcoming year. "Dr. E"
As you are aware, this year’s conference marks the second year of the BBSA conference bearing the name of Dr. Alfred L. Edwards, our dearly loved Professor Emeritus. Though Dr. E. is no longer with us, we will continue to dedicate a portion of the Conference Gala to honor his memory.
Before his death in 2006, Dr. E wrote a letter to alumni to invite and welcome you back to campus.
Letter from Dr. E Find a Friend!
We hear frequently from our alumni contacts that many of you would love to come back for the conference but you worry that you won’t have any friends from your class at the conference to re-connect with. Our proposed solution to that concern is for you to "find a friend!" Please reach out to friends and colleagues that you graduated with and ask them to attend the conference with you. Whether it’s a friend that you see frequently or rarely, we promise that you’ll enjoy meeting up with them while you enjoy the conference. And if several of you "find a friend," we’re sure that you’ll see a lot more people you know at the conference than you expected. We will recognize the alumni and BBSA member with the most "find a friend" connections. Referrals are designated on the registration form or via email at bbsaconference@umich.edu.
