The Alfred L. Edwards 32nd Annual BBSA Conference
January 24 – 27, 2008
Four Points by Sheraton Ann Arbor

The theme of this year’s annual conference is Advancing Diversity in Times of Adversity. Join us as we explore the issues facing the African American community in the wake of events such as Proposal 2. The Ross BBSA is proud to present keynote speakers; Ramsey Jay Jr. – Associate Analyst at Ares Management, Carla Harris – Managing Director of Global Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley, and Ed Gordon – Emmy award winning broadcaster.

Please join us in Ann Arbor on January 24 – 27, 2008 for what promises to be an exciting opportunity for business professionals and students to exchange knowledge, experience and wisdom, in addition to networking and social opportunities. The weekend also offers an opportunity for every member of the greater Ross BBSA family to reaffirm their commitment to the development of business acumen and opportunity within the African-American community, especially in the face of adversity.

The Alfred L. Edwards 32nd Annual BBSA Conference continues the tradition of celebrating the fantastic achievements and accomplishments of the African-American community at the Ross School of Business. What began with a small group of fifteen people at a one-day gathering in 1974 has grown into a four-day event of over 300 people. From a simple gathering of past and present students, and school faculty members, the BBSA conference has grown over the years to include corporate partners, school administrators, prospective students, and other members of the Ross community at large.

This year we will once again offer special programming for prospective students and alumni, as well as exciting panels and keynote speakers that are designed to be of interest to conference attendees at any point in their career.

In 2006, the conference celebrated its 30th consecutive year by renaming the event to honor Dr. Alfred L. Edwards. Dr. Edwards served as a Professor in the Ross School of Business with a career that extended over 30 years. In addition to his extensive commitment to increasing diversity at Ross, he was also instrumental in the development of The University of Nigeria and was appointed by President Kennedy to serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Agriculture. In more recent years, Dr. Edwards was the motivating force behind Michigan’s entrance to the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. Read more about Dr. Edwards.
